A Few Questions...

What’s your involvement with Soulmate?

I lovingly agreed to produce delicious, healthy food for them to make all their clients into better, happier people... or in other words I design the menus and run the kitchens.

What do you do for fun?

I go swimming with my kids and we make up synchronised swimming routines.

Who did you want to be when you grew up?

Me! Although I did briefly want to be Cagney (the blonde one) out of “Cagney and Lacy”. Does anyone remember that ground breaking, award winning show?!

What’s your favourite childhood memory?

I decorated our garden shed, made cakes and had friends round for a party... anyone who knows me well, nothing really changes!

If you were a superhero who would you be and what super powers would you have?

My children believe I already am a superhero!

I would love to have the ability to manipulate time, to be able to do more and enjoy the time we have more. If everyone took a bit of time to enjoy this moment we would all be happier people.

If you could have a one to one with anyone who would it be and why?

My husband, Shahid, who I love immensely, and who because of work commitments I definitely do not see enough of.

Describe the happiest moment in your life

The day my younger daughter Cassia was born. I remember a moment in the hospital when my mum and my younger sister, Davina, brought my older daughter Olivia in to visit. Olivia was sat crossed legged on my bed, wearing a pink and white polka dot dress and a gorgeous necklace she had just made, holding Cassia in her lap, and my husband, mum and little sister were all watching proudly at the new addition to our family.

If you were an animal what would you be?

A cat. I don’t really like cats but my friend April has this really comfy sofa in her kitchen which I love curling up in, and whenenver I sit there I feel comfortable and relaxed; I'm like a cat in its favourite place to sit.

What are you most grateful for?

My life today. I have a great husband, gorgeous children, a supportive family, a job I love and I live in a country which is relatively safe and where we can freely express our thoughts. I think people often forget how lucky we are living in a country where we can pretty much do and say what we think in relative safety; freedom of expression is a real privilege.

What’s your vision of the future?

I would like for every person on the planet to take responsibility for their actions. There is enough for everyone on the planet to live healthy prosperous lives yet children still die of starvation. Everyone can make a difference. Be it working out how to reduce your carbon footprint or giving money or time to raise money to help someone less fortunate than yourself. We all spend so much time chasing the things we want, if everyone spent a tiny amount of time helping someone else get what they want then their lives would have been more successful.

My vision would be to live in a world where helping others is the norm, not just something done by “special” people.

How are you going to make the world a better place?

I’d like to feed more people delicious, healthy food. If people eat well they are happier, if more people are happier the world is a better place!
