Biography

Having started his career working for upscale restaurant group, Living Ventures, Christian Coates then went on to own his own celebrity-packed nightclub and restaurant in Manchester, hosting champagne parties ’til dawn. The entrepreneur is now having a somewhat more positive impact on our lifestyles as founder and managing director of Soulmate Lifestyle Consultancy.

After successfully launching the Manchester City Centre’s Cocoa Rooms in 2005, Christian decided he wanted to do something completely different and while in the US last year, picked up on a concept that was a huge hit with Hollywood A-listers like Jessica Simpson. At a point when times are changing with health and wellbeing at the forefront of our agendas, Christian was conscious that he could make a positive difference by combining food, fitness lifestyle, making people fit and healthy instead of out of shape and drunk! As a result he retrained as a personal trainer and as a lifestyle coach and inadvertently followed in his father’s footsteps turning his passion for food and zest for life into a unique business concept bringing together all three elements.

What’s your involvement with Soulmate?

Managing Director and all round dogsbody!

What do you do for fun?

Spend time with friends and family, playing football and relaxing with my girlfriend and dog Finley.

Who did you want to be when you grew up?

He-Man or a fighter pilot!

What’s your favourite childhood memory?

Catching a frog with my grandad when I was about three! He fell in a river, a definate You’ve Been Framed moment!

If you were a superhero who would you be and what super powers would you have?

The guy out of Heros who can steal everyone else’s superpower… you could pick and choose then what you wanted! Flying or invisibility wouldn’t be bad ones to have.

If you could have a one to one with anyone who would it be and why?

I would love to have a one on one with Steve Jobs—the guy who invented Apple. Just to see what he’s got up his sleeve next! Ha, I’m a bit of a Mac geek!

Describe the happiest moment in your life

When my mum was ill, and she had an operation to fix her. Hearing that she had the all clear made me very happy. It puts things into perspective when someone very close is ill. It’s one of the reasons why I chose this new path in my life.

If you were an animal what would you be?

A wolf!

What are you most grateful for?

Being healthy and having a great life, brilliant friends and a very special family who make me feel very loved. Oh, and of course my girlfriend!! Ha!

What’s your vision of the future?

That Soulmate will become a household brand, so that when people see the logo or hear the name, that it will do them some good and bring sunshine into their lives.

How are you going to make the world a better place?

By making anyone I meet smile!
